FAQs

Does your company pay or help with Insurance deductibles?

No. According to Senate Bill 38, it is illegal for a contractor to pay a customer’s deductible. Allowing a contractor to pay your deductible is considered insurance fraud.

Should I repair or replace my existing roof?

If your roof is near or over its estimated life expectancy, it will likely need to be replaced. If your roof has extensive damage, whether from hail or severe weather, replacing the entire roof is the best option. A few missing or damaged shingles in one area can be easily repaired with a minor fix. However, if the damage is more significant, it will most likely be best to replace.

Is it essential to have attic ventilation?

Proper attic and roof ventilation helps regulate temperature and humidity, preventing mold growth and premature aging. It also contributes to energy efficiency by reducing the strain on your HVAC system.

Should I install a Class 4 material?

Class 4 IR products perform better in hail. Most insurance companies provide discounts for Class 4 IR products on annual homeowner insurance policies.

What is Class 4 IR?

Class 4 Impact Resistant Roofing Materials. Highest rating for roofing materials.

How often should I clean my gutters?

Too much debris in your gutters can plug up the drainage and cause damage to your fascia, ice damming, and premature aging of your gutters and downspouts. Typically, gutters should be cleaned at least once a year in the fall, after the leaves have fallen from the trees. However, if you have a lot of trees or evergreen trees, you may need to have them cleaned more frequently. Horn Brothers offers a wide range of gutter guards that have proven effective, even in resisting pine needles.

What do ACV and RCV mean on my insurance adjuster's summary?

ACV means “actual cash value”, or what your roof is worth considering its age. RCV means “recoverable cash value”, or what it should cost to replace. If you have an RCV policy, you will receive the recoverable amount minus your deductible once the repairs are completed.
