A lot of the time, our work at Horn Brothers roofing is providing the basics in roof repair and replacement in Denver, whether that means helping different homes fix up their roofs, add new ones, or doing the same for businesses. However, we recently had the chance to do some roofing work for a very unique client, and it earned our work a feature in a recent article by Building Design+Construction, profiling some unique building applications for certain products. Here’s a little more on the project itself.

Saint John’s Cathedral

roof repair and replacement in DenverThis Denver church is a beautiful piece of architecture, but as anyone from Colorado can tell you, sometimes the weather can be difficult to work with. This historic structure needed an added layer of protection from the rigors of the Rockies, and we were called upon in order to take care of this issue. Working on a historic structure adds an extra layer both of care and concern. Not only are you working with an older building, but you also need to make the added effort to put together something that resembles the original work, while still installing modern protection.

We accomplished this by putting on a new roof with DaVinci Roofscapes single-width composite tiles on top of this 90-foot-tall structure. In order to keep the color similar to the original look, we used 39 squares of Slate Gray tiles, 55 tiles with a canyon color, and 151 using the European blend. Now, parishioners, architecture lovers, and the people of Denver can see our work on full display. Who knows, maybe we’ll be working on some other historical buildings soon!
